The North American Aviation F-86 Saber (English: "Sabre") is a first-generation fighter aircraft designed by the United States after World War II for aerial combat, interdiction and bombing. The F-86 first flew on October 1, 1947 and entered service in 1949, making it the most successful of the early American fighter aircraft. In addition to a large number of modifications and military assistance, the naval version of the FJ Fury series fighter also emerged from this type. The F-86 was the first aircraft in the world to reach supersonic diving speeds and the first fighter that could carry air-to-air missiles. Its aerial counterpart was the Soviet MiG-15. The F-86F is the main type of daylight saber and the F type is equipped with the more powerful J47-GE-27 engine. The F-86F has a combat radius of 690 km when carrying two auxiliary fuel tanks and is equipped with the LABS (Low Altitude Bombing System) to deliver small MK12 tactical nuclear atomic bombs.
